Costa Mappis has always had a passion for EDM. In his earlier years it was happy hardcore. Then in his late teens it was hard house and NRG but now the love of his life is Trance. Anything ranging from 128bpm progressive to 140bpm uplifting bangers. It was only a few years ago when I decided that listening to music was not enough. I wanted to be creative. So I invested in his some CDJs and a mixer. An opportunity arose to support Above & Beyond on their recent Group Therapy tour. The competition was to submit a 30 min mix. I decided to enter it for a bit of fun and to my amazement Jaytech chose my mix as the winner. To be able to support Above & Beyond as my first gig was something I will never ever forget. Since then I have supported Mat Zo, Jaytech, Kyau & Albert, Solarstone & Roger Shah. There have been various guest mixes on Nova’s Next Gen show, BAM radio and Afterhours.FM. It all happened so quickly but it’s been lots of fun.

Headstrong feat Stine Grove vs Colombo – Tears Rock the Beat (DreamensioN presents DJ Toasty Mashup)

I thought I’d try something a little different to my usual style, so a couple of weeks ago I attempted this mashup.  It’s a mashup of the Headstrong feat Stine Grove “Tears” (Acoustic Piano Chillout Mix) and “Rock the Beat” by Colombo.  I’ve used the entire Headstrong track, but only the loops from the first 90sec of Colombo’s track.  The result is a mash of chilled beats, timeless vocals and beautiful piano.  Enjoy!

DreamensioN presents Universal Language 043 (with DJ Jer Guest Mix #2)

2011 kicks off with a bang as I get back into the Universal Language series for Afterhours.FM.  January 2011 see’s DJ Jer return to the show for another massive guest mix.  I lay down a 1hr vocal trance set, following on from my 2hr set for Universal Language 042.  DJ Jer nails it with some massive uplifting and epic tunes.  I seriously enjoyed this set and it is definatly not one to be missed.

DreamensioN presents Universal Language 040 (with Santerna guest mix)

This month on Universal Language I feature some great new tracks, and I have a very special guest mix by Santerna.  As usual I drop some melodic and progressive vocals, and I feature a great mashup by Rob Dyer.  My set builds up to 140bpm, where I finish with an old school classic by Chicane.  Santerna brings his deep and progressive sounds to the show featuring many of his own tracks and remixes.  Enjoy this contrast of styles in this month’s show!

Name: Alexender Devyatyarov

Date of birth: March 12, 1985

Alexander began his career as a musician in his native city – Moscow in 2004. After some years, Santerna found his way in music space, filling his niche with multifarious variations and mixtures in progressive style.

Santerna was the first Russian musician, to have his works released on Mondo Records – one of the world leading labels, oriented on trance and house music. This label, owned by Darren Tate, presents works of such outstanding musicians and DJs as Brisky, Hemstock & Jennings, Adam White, Flash Brothers, Nimmo & Bayer, Kris O’Neil vs D.Kandi, Darren Tate (aka DT8 Project) and many others. Alexander is also known under a pseudonym of Fadelon, under which several tracks were issued on this label.

Santerna presumes that passing everything he does through himself is vital. Only then each work will obtain something unique. That is why having herd his music once, you’re likely to never forget it – so intimate, intellectual, tuneful it is. Besides, the sounding is absolutely unique. And these are not all the factors that make his music special.

The first single appeared on August 28, 2006 on German label “Shan Music”, owned by DJ Shah and Pedro Del Mar. In that year, Alexander starts performing as a DJ. During just one year, he managed to perform in Barnaul, Ufa, Kirov and twice in Novosibirsk. His special way of serving music compositions, energy and atmosphere of performances are remarkable.
In autumn 2007, in co-authorship with Shifted Reality (a musician from Novosibirsk), the first single record appeared on the “Alter Ego Records” label. The complete title of the single – “Shifted Reality & Santerna feat. Tiff Lacey – On This Day” It included the following works: original track and remixes by Abbott & Chambers and Chad Cisneros.

Santerna`s tracks could be often heard in radio-shows if the best DJs of the planet: The DeepBlue Radio Show presented by Solar Stone, Intelligent Design by well-known Finnish DJ – Mikka Kuisma. Compositions of Santerna frequently appeared in rotation in the programs: Global DJ Broadcast, by the leading world DJ Markus Schulz, Corstens Countdown by Ferry Corsten, and Trance Around The World by Above & Beyond. Alexander`s works are supported by Markus Schulz, Above & Beyond, Solar Stone, Ernesto vs Bastian, DJ Shah, Hawk, Chris Chambers, M.I.D.O.R., Adam White, Dale Corderoy & Darren Tate, Niklas Harding, Jon O’Bir, Ronski Speed, Andy Moor, Matt Darey, Manuel Le Saux and others.

Guest mixes by Santerna have already appeared in such popular programs as “The DeepBlue Radioshow”, by Solarstone, “Mellomania” (presenters are DJ Shah and Pedro Del Mar), “Alter Ego Sessions” (presented by Chris Chambers and Matt Abbott), and also in program “The Signs” presented by Volodya Fonar` on DFM.

A debut album “All About Twelve” appeared under a prominent American label System Recordsings in the fall of 2009. A CD-version also appeared under the Russian label Diamond Records.

Now Santerna actively creates new tracks and remixes that appear under various labels.
Santerna is arranging for his new creations to appear under the legendary label Black Hole Recordings in August, 2010.

DreamensioN presents Universal Language 038 (with Benya guest mix)

In this months show, I have a very special guest mix by Danish producer, Benya.  Benya (also known as Ben Bording), has been in the music scene for a number of years now.  If you’ve been following my mixes for a while, you will also recognise the name Yamin.  Yamin is the name Ben uses when he teams up with female vocalist Marcie.  Together they produce some of my all time favourite tracks.

In fact, you can search my site right now for “Benya” or “Yamin”, and just see how many tracks of his I’ve used.  He’s clearly one of my favourite producers, and it is such a priviliage to have him as this months guest.

I hope you enjoy this months show from me.  I’ve thrown together some deep and progressive tracks, along with some vocals.  Ben brings his beautifully progressive and melodic sounds to this months guest mix.  A personal favourite of mine is the Tucandeo remix of Prometheus – that’s truely an amazing rework of a classic track.

So here’s the info on Benya:

Danish producer Ben Bording, better known as Benya, had his debut appearance with ‘Prometheus’, but is mostly known for his remix skills on tunes such as ‘Daydream’, ‘Rush’ and ‘Entry To Heaven’. This Dane takes it easy. He’s studying to be an aircraft maintenance technician for Scandinavian Airlines, and produces in his spare time. However, he’s found another way to make people rise above the ground. ‘Serendipity’ is his lovely vocal trancer, and the second release of the new S107 imprint. Teamed up with vocalist Penny Nixon, Benya delivers a gentle, profound progressive-trancer that’s fit for the clubs and home-listening.

The Midnight remix of the track adds a few spices to make it more peak-time, while the Tenishia remix carries the listener away from the very first beat, with a mind-blowing piano break and techy surroundings.

DreamensioN presents Universal Language 037 (with tyDi guest mix)

In this month’s show, I have a very special guest mix by tyDi.  tyDi has been making a name for himself in the Australian and Global dance music scene.  He was voted Australia’s #1 DJ in 2009 in the Sony ITM Music Poll, and his productions have been played the world over by the likes of Armin van Buuren.  He’s travelled the globe playing at Trance Energy, and at Sensation White in Melbourne, Australia.  His fans will know him from his Brisbane residency at the clubs here.

 

His debut album ‘Look Closer’ was his first artist album opening at #2 on the AIR Dance Album Chart.  In short, tyDi is rapidly becoming an established DJ & Producer in the dance music scene.

 

So it is with great pleasure I have him on this month’s show.  His guest mix comes on after a progressive, vocal and melodic set mixed by me.  tyDi’s deep bassline sounds and proggy tracks will carry you through to the end of this very special 2hr show.

Here is the info on tyDi:

2009 has been a huge year for the man we know as tyDi. As a DJ, the 22 year-old was voted #1 in Australia for the second year running (Sony ITM DJ Poll), and spent the year selling out venues on multiple national tours. He is regular on the prominent Australian festival circuit and ended in 2008 with a bang by co-headlining Melbourne’s Sensation NYE party at the Telstra Dome. Internationally he played main stage to 20,000 at the worl famous Trance Energy event in Utrecht, Holland and toured Malaysia, SIngapore and Asia.

As a producer, his tracks were signed to labels across the globe, including world #1 DJ Armin van Buuren’s own label, Armada. He produced the soundtrack for hard-hitting government advertising, video games and luxury property developments. His debut artist album ‘Look Closer’ went straight to the #2 spot on the Australian Dance albums chart and has been shortlisted for several awards.
